We are Parousia.
An evangelical church in Den Bosch. We would like to meet you.

About us and what we believe

The Evangelical Community Parousia in Den Bosch is an independent church organization, founded in 1975 and affiliated with the Union-ABC in the Netherlands. Internationally, we are connected with the church and mission work of the Christian & Missionary Alliance.

What we believe
We believe in one God, the Creator of heaven and earth: infinitely perfect, eternally existing in three Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that His substitutionary suffering and death have brought reconciliation between us and God the Father. Through this, we are cleansed of sins. The Holy Spirit is the third Divine Person, sent to dwell in believers, guiding, teaching, and empowering them.

Our vision is summarized under this motto. Jesus' purpose on earth was to restore the relationship between us and the Father, so that we can live with Him as originally intended. Living a life with a passion for Jesus and the Father. The life we are excited about, we want to share with each other and with the world around us.

‘Parousia’ is Greek for ‘second coming’. It's not just the return of anyone, but of a king or emperor. The King we anticipate is Jesus.

What can we offer you?

  • Many church members gather every two weeks in smaller groups in homes called home groups. This usually takes place on Wednesday evenings.

Most home groups have 8 to 12 participants, and they have three objectives:

    1. Community: Getting to know each other better and building valuable relationships.
    2. Growth: Developing towards (spiritual) maturity in Jesus Christ.
    3. Go: Equipping members so that, both as a group and individually, they can express the love of Jesus to others in the community.

    Leadership

Each home group is led by a group leader. The Pastor and the Deacon of 'Groups and Pastoral Care' provide joint leadership for the group activities.

Currently, our church has 13 home groups. In addition to various groups in 's-Hertogenbosch, there are also home groups in Rosmalen, Empel, Boxtel, Drunen, and Waalwijk.

    International

There is also a group for people from Iran where 'Farsi' is spoken. This group also meets on Wednesday evenings. Additionally, during the Sunday morning service, there is translation of the service into Spanish, Farsi, and English.

  • Children are important to God, and that's why they are important to us too! We are a community with many young families, and as such, we have a special program tailored to each age group.

We want the children in our community to receive attention, have the Bible at the center, and learn to follow Christ Jesus as their friend.

    Groups

With our children's ministry, we aim to provide a place for children where they enjoy coming, feel safe, and can be themselves. Each age group has its own space and program.

    Nursery (0-2½ years)
    Benjamin Group (2½-5 years)
Jacob Kids (5-8 years and 8-12 years)

    Children's Ministry Initiatives

Compassion: As part of our children's ministry, we sponsor two children through Compassion – a girl from Haiti and a boy from Peru. Each month, one of the groups writes a card to them.

  • Bring them together & Bring them to get There!' That's what we aim for: to bring young people closer to each other and to lead them to Jesus. To pursue and achieve this, several goals have been established for youth work, namely:

Evangelism: Providing activities through which they can understand the gospel.
Community: Encouraging the development of friendships.
Evangelism: Assisting young people in making a choice for Jesus and then growing towards a mature faith.
Ministry: Challenging young people to discover their talents and gifts and engage in serving in the church.
Worship: Teaching them to worship God by aligning their way of life with His will.

    We have two youth groups:

    10ers (12-15 years)
    YouDare (15-22 years)

    10ers
The teen group consists of young people in the first, second, and third grades of secondary education. In principle, teenagers move on to YouDare after three years. All teenagers are welcome, including those who do not (or do not regularly) attend our church. They can also bring a friend. Our group currently consists of more than 21 teenagers.

    Activities:
Twice a month, on Friday evenings from 8:00-10:00 pm, we have Teen Nights. Sometimes we start earlier by having a meal together, either fries or pizza, before we begin. The content is very diverse, ranging from movies and sports to the 'Solid Friends' program from Youth for Christ. This program includes creative discussions, games, and Bible studies. We aim to connect with the teenagers' world and give them space to share their stories. In doing so, they discover that the good news of Jesus is relevant to all aspects of life. We also enjoy drinks and snacks during these activities.

    YouDare
The YouDare group consists of young people aged 15 to approximately 22 years. Understanding that the world of a 15-year-old and a 22-year-old can be quite different, in most cases, we make distinctions in age categories during the YouDare evenings. This way, we provide a challenging and educational program for all young people, allowing them to meet peers of different ages. Friends from outside our community are also warmly welcome!

    Activities:
Twice a month, on Friday evenings from 8:00-10:00 pm, we have YouDare nights. Sometimes we start earlier by having a meal together, either fries or pizza, before we begin. These nights often involve more serious discussions about faith and reflection. Occasionally, we also engage in fun activities like an Escape Room or Laser Tag. Of course, we also enjoy drinks and snacks during these evenings.

    Kick-off Camp
Once a year, we organize a kick-off camp for these two groups. This usually takes place in the month of September. We have visited various locations such as the Ardennes, Nulde Beach, and Germany. During the camp, we engage in various fun activities and explore a biblical theme. We start on Friday evening and return home on Sunday afternoon. It's truly a top weekend of connection, and young people often speak enthusiastically about it for years to come.

    F8 events

    Interchurch

F8 Events was established in 2014 by three different churches in Den Bosch because there was a lack of exciting Christian events in the region specifically for young people. Several young people from Parousia are actively involved in the organization. At our events, you'll find inspiration, forge new friendships, and connect with God. We aim to bring many young people together and inspire them.

    Main-Events

At least twice a year, we organize an evening program featuring a DJ, worship, sermon, testimonies, prayer, photo corner, snacks, and fellowship. If you want to know more, please visit our website at www.f8events.nl.
